About RSC

We are dedicated to provide you with expert advice on the statistical methods you should use for your particular study. We will also help you perform such analyses and interpret the results properly.

Who We Are

Welcome to the home of the Family Home and Social Sciences Research Support Center (RSC). This site is to help faculty, staff, and students, within the FHSS College, be aware of the opportunities available to receive statistical assistance with faculty or mentored projects, class projects, or any other research or statistical questions that one may have. This site provides some guidelines and tips for creating a professional research design. It also contains examples of how to perform basic analyses of data using statistical software available in the open-labs on campus. We are available to provide you with expert advice on the statistical methods you should use for your particular study. We can also help you perform such analyses, interpret the results properly, and assist you in using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, Mplus, R). We offer face-to-face, over the phone, and Zoom consultation, along with occasional workshops.

Scope

We offer the following free services to those associated with the College of Family Home and Social Sciences:

  • Statistical consultation over the phone, in person, or on Zoom
  • Training in statistical software (SPSS, Stata, SAS, Mplus, etc.)
  • Guidance through the research process

How We Work

Walk-ins are welcome (see hours). You may also schedule an appointment to avoid the possibility of us not being available (see contact information), and we will return your email or call to confirm the appointment. We suggest you come with knowledge of your:

  • Specific research objectives or questions
  • Variables
  • Data collection methods
  • Specific questions (e.g., statistical software, interpretations)

By having this information, we will have a clear understanding of the problem you need to resolve, and that will allow us to help you better. High quality research takes time, and we look forward to helping you in that process!
